After we launched our 2017 wedding hair accessories collection, a French-Canadian blogger, Emma of M.A. The Girly Girl, wrote an interesting article matching her favorite bridal headpieces, flower crowns & veils with wedding dresses (click here for the article – only in French though!)
I liked it so much, it gave me the idea to do something similar to inspire brides-to-be! I asked Caroline Jarry, the amazing stylist who we interviewed for our post on how to wear a wedding hair accessory with short hair, to pair wedding gowns with her favorite Capelio wedding hair accessories!
I selected two fellow Canadian designers selling on Etsy to illustrate the wedding gowns popular trends of 2017. Here’s the result!
The two-piece wedding dress
Who hasn’t seen crop top in the street in recent years? This trend is ultra-popular with fashionistas, so it was only a matter of time before this look was also available for the bride. There are plenty of great two-pieces wedding gowns for the bride on Pinterest, which is stylish while being totally different from the traditional wedding dress.
Caroline’s choices
The Marianna flower crown : I like the more “present” side of this flower crown- it works as well with the classic side of the skirt and more modern top”
The Petals bridal headband : “This bridal headband is also perfect for this wedding dress, if we prefer to leave the spotlight to the wedding gown.”

The wedding dress with cut-off
More and more brides want to be not only gorgeous on their wedding day, but also sexy as well. Hence the trend of wedding dresses with cut-off patterns that has emerged in recent years. It’s easy to find beautiful wedding gowns that are both sophisticated while having a sexy allure to them by showing a little bit of skin here and there!
Caroline’s choices
The Anna Alexandra wedding hair comb : “This subtle wedding hair comb enhances the godess-like style of this dress”
The one-of-a-kind red flower crown : “This flower wreath not only complete well the wedding gown, it also brings a touch of color to break with the classic ”all in white”…!”

The modern-princess wedding dress
Many future brides want a wedding day that will unfold like a fairy tale and feeling like a princess on their big day is a big part of it! Nowadays we can forget the bridal look of an oversized skirt on a corset, a strong trend for decades. Now we use modern details to play with this theme, so you can feel like royalty but with a trendy look!

The classic wedding gown
Nothing beats a simple, classic wedding dress that you may even be able to reuse for a special occasion or to pass on to a young woman in your family in the future. You can find beautiful dresses with a classic cut but with a touch of originality : a bust with sequin, an interesting lace pattern, etc.
Caroline’s choices
The Marie-Helen birdcage veil : “With this subtle and classic wedding dress, this delicate birdcage veil enhanced by the jewelry piece, will be just perfect!”
The Ireland bridal fascinator : “Don’t hesitate to wear this wedding headpiece delicately placed on a messy bun or even on loose hair : with the wedding gown, your shoulders will be perfectly highlighted.”
