Wedding of Marie-Pier & Jean-François

11 February 2017
/ / /

We wrote an article about Marie-Pier’s wedding hair accessory, a Quebec bride who decided to unite in the South in 2016 (click here to read the article). And now we are lucky to have the picture of this beautiful wedding!

Why did the couple choose to have a destination wedding? The bride explains, “We wanted to celebrate our wedding longer with our guests and enjoy as many moments with them as possible. In addition to the desire to spend more time with their loved one, Marie-Pier mentions that she was looking for an alternative to a religious wedding: “A wedding at a church did not connect with us at all. We wanted something more symbolic, simple and family officiated by a member of the family.”

The bride and groom wanted something family-centered, natural and spontaneous. Nothing superfluous: simplicity was the word! Thus the couple created a wedding that reflected their personality, taking inspiration from the sea, with the wedding theme color white and fushia. That’s why we added fushia touches in the white feathers of her wedding hair accessory Catherine for the bride:

All weddings require a lot of organization, of course. But in the case of a destination wedding, the planning and preparation of the big day are complicated by the distance. In the case of Marie-Pier, she decided to hire a travelling agency in Quebec City that not only made the connection with the wedding planner at the destination, but also took care of the plane tickets and hotel reservations for the couple and the wedding guests!

The sand ceremony, that all the guests took part in, and the entrance with the family and the children are among the favorite moments of Marie-Pier. “To see the emotions on everyone’s faces as well as the groom was a magical moment in a magical place and a great setting!”

Marie-Pier’s advice to future brides? “This day belongs to you and it must suit your personality; do it as you want.” She recommends enjoying the preparations for the wedding, even if they are sometimes tedious: “It is part of the wedding experience. This day is a whirlwind of emotions that happens just too fast!”

Wedding hair accessories for the bride and bridesmaids

4 February 2017
/ / /

Capelio's collections of wedding hair accessories are not only for brides: our fascinators, headpieces, flower crowns and barrettes are also created with the idea to offer a vast selection for the bridesmaids, the flower girl and the mother of the bride. In fact, you can find in our wedding hair accessories availables various designs that can be matched together by the bride and her bridesmaids to create a visual harmony and a continuity with their wedding outfits.

Here are some suggestions for brides who would like to mix and match the wedding hair accessories of their bridesmaid to theirs - psst, you can also offer them their hair accessory as a thank-you gift to kill two birds with one stone!

Baby’s breath flowers

We already had in our Etsy store a duo of white flowers, with our Gabriella flower crown and some Abby white flowers hair barrettes as a package for the bride. But our Anna Rosa babys breath flower crown is so popular, not to mention everyone loves baby's breath flower, it was only a given that we would create flower hair accessories to go with the flower wreath. Thus how we added the Anita baby's breath flowers combs to our 2017 wedding hair accessories collection!

Therefore now you have the Anna Rosa baby's breath flower crown that you can wear with a veil (a package is available on Etsy of both or we can add the veil directly on the flower crown) or you can wear it on its own. For the bridesmaids, you can order few Anita mini-combs of 4 cm-long with baby's breath flowers. And there you go!

Traditional & birdcage veils

Birdcage veils have been very popular in recent years, but still about half of brides opt for the traditional bridal veil. So we creates two headpieces for the bride using both a birdcage veil and the traditional wedding veil. Last year we created our Vienna bridal headpiece and this year we have included in our collection the Duo headdress.

As the Vienna veil was a popular design last year, we thought to offer a wedding hair accessory with the same inspiration that could be worn by the bridesmaids and other members of the bridal, or by the bride during the reception, for example. Thus the Simone headband was created, made with tulle like a traditional veil as well as with birdcage veil. It's perfect for the bride who wears the Vienna or the Duo headpieces and wants to offer a thank-you gift to her bridesmaids that they will also wear on the wedidng day!

Fabric flowers

Flowers : a must-have detail for any wedding! We see it in the bouquet (of course!) but also in the decoration, in the centerpieces, and much more. No wonder so many brides incorporate them as well in their wedding outfits!

We created our Bloom veil for the bride not only with handmade fabric flowers on a hair clip but also with petals that seem to fly on the veil. The bride wearing this veil will now have the possibility of having her bridesmaids wear at the same time the Petals headband which, as its name indicates, is composed of fabric petals. The pearls among the petals match the centers of the fabric flowers of the Bloom veils, also with pearls.

The Bows

Another very popular detail after the flowers, bows are included in the theme of many weddings. We had created the Chantale birdcage veil on a headband with a fabric bow first for a specific bride of the same name as a bespoke wedding hair accessory - her gorgeous wedding gown had three bows in the back. We loved the result so much that it was later included in our regular wedding collection.

It is however by pure coincidence, while working with the wedding hair accessories of our 2017 collection, that we came up with the Clara bow headpiece. The crin gave it an interesting shape, but it lacked a little something... We add a little bit of birdcage veil, and voila! A wedding headpiece that is original, while staying girly and fun to wear!

The two combine perfectly: the Chantale veil for the bride and the Clara bow hair clip for the bridesmaids!

Wedding trend : Rustic vintage weddings

10 December 2016
/ / /

Here’s an early Christmas present : the gorgeous pictures of the wedding photoshoot that took place few weeks earlier! The pictures arebreath-taking and I’m sure they will inspire you for your wedding! With all the rustic weddings we see on Pinterest, wedding blogs and the likes, it feels like there’s nothing original about it. And true, we’ve seen so many mason jars adapted in every way possible for that particular wedding theme, but looking at those pictures will definetely convince you a small wedding with a DIY-feel has a lot of character!

Indeed the first ambiance of the wedding photoshoot we did had a rustic ring to it, but there was also a very strong vintage vibe. It worked well with the Batinse, the restaurant where the photoshoot took place. It shows how even with a small, simple venue it’s still possible to create a breathtaking atmosphere for your wedding. Melanie Vallerand was the one who coordinated the whole thing – you can see all the talented professionals who made this possible right after the pictures!

The bridal look

I love how the wedding dress come from a regular women’s fashion store : not only is it gorgeous but it would be also easy to wear it after the wedding. To go with this bridal dress, we paired our Anastasia birdcage veil, made with a lace piece on a comb with an ivory veil. It was perfect to create a look that was both timeless and romantic. Also just like the dress, you can wear it afterwards simply by cutting or folding the veil!

Removable birdcage veil and bridal headpiece

3 December 2016
/ / /

Those who were tempted by the wedding headpiece with birdcage veil similar to the one worn by Esmeralda on her wedding day, offered in the ”one-of-a-kind accessories” section of our Etsy shop, will be disappointed to learn that a bride has jumped on the opportunity to be able to wear it at her own wedding in January! Unfortunately, it was the only one available… but for other brides, you can still look at the wedding hair accessories still available in our Etsy store, including the one-of-a-kind accessories still available, or even contact us for a bespoke headdress! Also, it’s worth mentioning that our January bride asked for personalized details that could inspire you.

Indeed, not really loving the tulle behind the feathers of Esmeralda’s hair piece, we decided to put behind the curly feathers a piece of birdcage veil. You’re probably thinking, a piece of birdcage veil on top of the veil of the headpiece? But our bride had a great idea: having the birdcage veil to be worn over her face on a hair clip as a separate piece :

This way, she can easily remove the veil after the ceremony and wear only the headpiece. A good idea, considering that many brides remove their veil after the ceremony before the reception. A nice example of customization that could also apply to you?

Browse our Etsy store and don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss the details of your wedding hair accessory you would like to adapt or modify. Check out the ”one-of-a-kind” accessories and be quick : once they’re gone, they’re gone forever! Keep an eye on this section, new accessories will be added regularly!

Wedding trend : Autumn weddings

25 September 2016
/ / /

It is well known that the wedding season is summer, more precisely from May to August. However, speaking with other professionals of the wedding industry, we have recently realized that more and more couples opt out to celebrate their love during the summer and instead choose to organize their wedding in September or even October. This is not exactly a new trend: in recent years, many weddings took place until late October. But it seems that this year, while the autumn months are gaining popularity, in July is becoming increasingly quiet!

And one can easily understand why many couples choose to marry in the fall rather than the summer. The autumnal scenery is beautiful and the surrounding colors, during fine weather, are breathtaking. Also, this way, you avoid the risk of heat waves. Some will say that the season is more prone to rainy weather, but the truth is, it could rain on your wedding day regardless if it takes place in the summer or during the fall.

Obviously, as for winter weddings, depending on the weather, your guests might not have the option to venture outside if it’s too cool outside. But if it is to bring everyone on the dance floor, why not?

Planning a fall wedding is easier in a way, since the summer vacations are over. With this growing popularity, it is possible that our wedding fell on the same day as the one of an acquaintance, but generally it’s easy to find a wedding date and a satisfying place for the couple. You might not have off-season discouts for the venue and other services, but it is possible to do last minute shopping for the bridesmaids outfits for example.

In fact, whether you choose to organize your wedding in autumn, winter or during the regular season, the choice is a very personal decision. It is interesting to see couples abandon the usual expectations of traditional weddings for more personal options. The fall season might be special for you, for example if you met during autumn!

Wondering if a fall wedding is for you? Do some research, call various venues to see if there is availability and good prices, check with your loves to know their opinion and if the majority could attend. Did you hire a wedding planner? Talk to her before choosing the date to know her opinion: Maybe she has organized a wedding in the fall before and will make you great recommendations. And do not hesitate to browse Pinterest and wedding blogs for inspiration!

To get inspired, here are some pictures of Chantal’s wedding, one of our beautiful clients  :
