Wedding trend : Rustic chic weddings

17 December 2016
/ / /

Last week you saw the amazing pictures of our previous photoshoot for a vintage rustic wedding, which is an original twost on this ultra-popular and much-used concept. A vintage and a rustic vibes go easily together so to inspire you even more, what do you think of a rustic ambiance paired with… a chic atmoshpere?

Most of the time  we would not think of pairing these two themes together, and yet : Mélanie did it splendidly well for our photoshoot, mixing the talent of the many talented wedding professionals (see the list of everyone involved after the photos) and the result is amazing! After all a wedding, like a couple, is the amalgam of many different influences, compromises and tastes: what better way to demonstrate it than an environment in an urban and kitsch restaurant, with a chic and elegant wedding decoration?

The look of the bride

The bride wore a dress of a Quebec designer whom I particularly like, Sonia P. Mélanie styled the wedding gown with our Simplicity bridal veil on comb. The veil brought a traditional and high-end vibe, while the dress offered a touch that was both original and friendly without losing any of its elegance. Perfect for our theme!

Wedding trend : Rustic vintage weddings

10 December 2016
/ / /

Here’s an early Christmas present : the gorgeous pictures of the wedding photoshoot that took place few weeks earlier! The pictures arebreath-taking and I’m sure they will inspire you for your wedding! With all the rustic weddings we see on Pinterest, wedding blogs and the likes, it feels like there’s nothing original about it. And true, we’ve seen so many mason jars adapted in every way possible for that particular wedding theme, but looking at those pictures will definetely convince you a small wedding with a DIY-feel has a lot of character!

Indeed the first ambiance of the wedding photoshoot we did had a rustic ring to it, but there was also a very strong vintage vibe. It worked well with the Batinse, the restaurant where the photoshoot took place. It shows how even with a small, simple venue it’s still possible to create a breathtaking atmosphere for your wedding. Melanie Vallerand was the one who coordinated the whole thing – you can see all the talented professionals who made this possible right after the pictures!

The bridal look

I love how the wedding dress come from a regular women’s fashion store : not only is it gorgeous but it would be also easy to wear it after the wedding. To go with this bridal dress, we paired our Anastasia birdcage veil, made with a lace piece on a comb with an ivory veil. It was perfect to create a look that was both timeless and romantic. Also just like the dress, you can wear it afterwards simply by cutting or folding the veil!

Removable birdcage veil and bridal headpiece

3 December 2016
/ / /

Those who were tempted by the wedding headpiece with birdcage veil similar to the one worn by Esmeralda on her wedding day, offered in the ”one-of-a-kind accessories” section of our Etsy shop, will be disappointed to learn that a bride has jumped on the opportunity to be able to wear it at her own wedding in January! Unfortunately, it was the only one available… but for other brides, you can still look at the wedding hair accessories still available in our Etsy store, including the one-of-a-kind accessories still available, or even contact us for a bespoke headdress! Also, it’s worth mentioning that our January bride asked for personalized details that could inspire you.

Indeed, not really loving the tulle behind the feathers of Esmeralda’s hair piece, we decided to put behind the curly feathers a piece of birdcage veil. You’re probably thinking, a piece of birdcage veil on top of the veil of the headpiece? But our bride had a great idea: having the birdcage veil to be worn over her face on a hair clip as a separate piece :

This way, she can easily remove the veil after the ceremony and wear only the headpiece. A good idea, considering that many brides remove their veil after the ceremony before the reception. A nice example of customization that could also apply to you?

Browse our Etsy store and don’t hesitate to contact us to discuss the details of your wedding hair accessory you would like to adapt or modify. Check out the ”one-of-a-kind” accessories and be quick : once they’re gone, they’re gone forever! Keep an eye on this section, new accessories will be added regularly!

A new week, a new photoshoot to take part in! In fact, this time, the planning and coordinating of said wedding photography session was the work of Mélanie Vallerand, photographer and wedding coordinator in Quebec City. A team of Quebec wedding professionals gathered together for this wonderful creative wedding photography session and, of course, Capelio was there!

Our Anastasia lace headpiece with birdcage veil was used for the first look, and the second was with our Simplicity veil in an ivory version. It is both a pleasure and a pride to lend our creations for a wedding photoshoot with so many talented people sensitive to the slightest detail!

I’m so excited to see the final photos, but we’ll have to wait until December! Some lucky people may have already seen the preview shots that were published on Facebook and I guess you know the result will be breathtaking. For the others, here’s a preview :

5 reasons to wear a wedding veil

16 October 2016
/ / /

We gave you 5 reasons to wear a wedding hair accessory to your wedding (click here to read the article!), so it’s only fair to do the same with wearing a bridal veil! Because after all about half of brides nowadays wear wedding veils : here’s (probably) why!

1) It is your wedding. You want to wear a veil? Wear a veil. Some may talk to you about the bad symbolism of it – but if you want it, who cares? Some will say you only wear it for the ceremony anyway… so? Don’t dress for others, dress for yourself : as simple as that!

2) You will have a full bridal look. Believe it or not, some brides never have that moment of finding The One when trying on a wedding dress – but once they had a wedding veil on their head, the die had been cast. Like a wedding hair accessory, a veil can be a great way to add style to a simple dress.

3) It will make great pictures. Let’s be honest : one of the biggest reasons for many, many brides to wear a veil is because it will make incredible pictures if it inspires your photographer (or even for a boudoir session!) Pinterest is filled with amazing images of the bride and groom with the veil in the wind while they kiss, or other pictures just as breathtaking.

4) You can create a tradition. Some families used to pass on wedding dresses from generation to generation, but trends change so much, not every wedding gown style are timeless and can be worn decades or even years from now. If you want to keep something for your daughter or niece to wear on their big day as well, keep your veil can be a great idea.

5) You can re-use it in different ways. Sure, it may not be as easy to reuse as a wedding hair accessory, since many can be worn as fashion hair piece. But you can use the fabric of your veil to create something you’ll be able to wear again, especially if it has beautiful details. For example we used the leftover fabric of the dress of a mother of the bride to embellish her headpiece (click here for pics!) – why not do the same with your veil! Not feeling so crafty? We got you covered : just get in touch with us to have some suggestions (include pics of your veil!) or to tell us your idea and we’ll see what we can do!

Still hesitating between a wedding hair accessory or a bridal veil? Remember that the choice is yours and shouldn’t be dictacted by another person, article or whatnot. When choosing your wedding veil or bridal headpiece, as with any other accessory of your bridal look, you have to consider the overall style you’re going for and see if it all comes toghether perfectly. And remember, in case of doubts, just ask us!

From a bridal veil to a fashion hair clip

24 July 2016
/ / /

I often suggest to clients to keep their wedding hair accessory and modify it (if necessary) so they can wear it after their big day. As a picture is worth a thousand words, here is an example of a bridal veil made into a fashion hair clip you can wear everyday!

For this example, we took our Bloom veil for the bride, with handmade flowers and petals. By simply cutting the veil, the headpiece becomes a hair accessory perfect to wear to go to work or for a special occasion:

Beautiful, isn’t it? This is a great way to not only reuse your wedding accessories but also so you can remember one of the best days of your life!
