Wedding of Marie-Pier & Jean-François

11 February 2017
/ / /

We wrote an article about Marie-Pier’s wedding hair accessory, a Quebec bride who decided to unite in the South in 2016 (click here to read the article). And now we are lucky to have the picture of this beautiful wedding!

Why did the couple choose to have a destination wedding? The bride explains, “We wanted to celebrate our wedding longer with our guests and enjoy as many moments with them as possible. In addition to the desire to spend more time with their loved one, Marie-Pier mentions that she was looking for an alternative to a religious wedding: “A wedding at a church did not connect with us at all. We wanted something more symbolic, simple and family officiated by a member of the family.”

The bride and groom wanted something family-centered, natural and spontaneous. Nothing superfluous: simplicity was the word! Thus the couple created a wedding that reflected their personality, taking inspiration from the sea, with the wedding theme color white and fushia. That’s why we added fushia touches in the white feathers of her wedding hair accessory Catherine for the bride:

All weddings require a lot of organization, of course. But in the case of a destination wedding, the planning and preparation of the big day are complicated by the distance. In the case of Marie-Pier, she decided to hire a travelling agency in Quebec City that not only made the connection with the wedding planner at the destination, but also took care of the plane tickets and hotel reservations for the couple and the wedding guests!

The sand ceremony, that all the guests took part in, and the entrance with the family and the children are among the favorite moments of Marie-Pier. “To see the emotions on everyone’s faces as well as the groom was a magical moment in a magical place and a great setting!”

Marie-Pier’s advice to future brides? “This day belongs to you and it must suit your personality; do it as you want.” She recommends enjoying the preparations for the wedding, even if they are sometimes tedious: “It is part of the wedding experience. This day is a whirlwind of emotions that happens just too fast!”

Anna and Howard’s wedding

21 August 2016
/ / /

Meet your future husband in the Cayman Islands during a short trip: sounds like the script of a Hollywood movie, right? And yet that’s what happened to Anna, a 2016 Capelio bride!

Even crazier? Anna’s journey lasted only 24 hours! Two friends convinced her to go with them, which allowed her to meet Howard, who worked at the hotel where they were staying. Although she thought he had a je-ne-sais-quoi, she didn’t fall in love straight away. Unlike him : for Howard it was love at first sight… when he saw her remove his sunglasses! He could admire her eyes and from that moment, the die has been cast.

Thanks to Anna’s friends, the lovebirds remained in contact when the young woman left to return to Montreal after 24 hours. Quickly the young couple began to communicate every day and after one week, Howard sent plane tickets to Anna so she could join him back when she got few days off work. In fact, whenever she had three or four days off, her boyfriend would send her plane tickets to go back to see him. A few months later, the groom wrote to Anna’s father asking for her hand and two months later, they were engaged!

The proposal took place in the Cayman Islands, of course: the couple were dinig at the Dolve Vita,  an Italian restaurant on the edge of the sea. What a romantic setting!

The wedding day

The setting

The wedding took place at the sugar shack Lalande in Montreal. The bride and groom wanted something simple, intimate, with only their relatives and close friends. The couple loves nature and chose on purpose a location that made their guests discover one aspect of Quebec culture, as some were from Switzerland, France, the US and even the Congo! The bride says, “We had a beautiful wedding with our guests who were all incredibly supportive and caring with us and especially who showered us with a lot of love! For this we are extremely grateful.”

The bride getting ready

Anna had a clear idea from the start of the wedding hair accessory she wanted, a flower crown with roses : “The bespoke wreath created specifically for my wedding was above my expectations! Audrey has created exactly what I had in mind!” In fact, we like the result so much that there will be a similar flower crown with white or ivory roses available in the 2017 collection!

The ceremony

The most beautiful moments of the day for Anna? The arrival on the arm of her father when she and her future husband began to cry, chocked with emotions. When her friend Julie-Anne sang during the ceremony. When the two doves were released. And finally, when Cynthia, a friend of the bride, performed after the first dance a song she had written especially for the newlyweds. “It was very moving to receive so much love! “

Bridal veil for a bride with short hair

17 July 2016
/ / /

Few weeks ago Caroline Jarry, a professional stylist who rocks a pixie cut, suggested as wedding hair accessories for the short-haired bride to wear a traditional veil if that’s what you want (click here to read the full article). How fitting then that I received on Etsy not long ago a request by a bride with short hair for a veil for her wedding day!

She wanted the traditional bridal look with a long veil, but in order to be confortable and not have to fix her hairdo all day, we opted for a headband instead of a comb. That’s the trick : choose any fascinator or wedding hair accessory and we can adapt it to short hair simply by making it on a headband! This way you know it won’t repeatedly fall or be uncomfortable.

The bride had the hardest time to find a veil on headband but as we offer beposke and custom wedding hair accessories, we created exactly what she wanted : our Simplicity veil with a handsewn white border on a metallic headband that goes down to the middle of her back.

And voilà :

Just remember, it’s not because you have short hair that you can’t have the bridal veil, headpiece or hair accessory you want. Just get in touch with us so we can create the exact fascinator or headdress you want!

Need some inspiration? Read this article with Lydiane of the wedding blog Oh Ma Juliette, who got married last year and who has short hair as well. You can also read again Caroline’s interview here.

Tips by the bride with short hair

13 March 2016
/ / /

Since the page ”How to wear a fascinator with short hair” is one of the most popular pages on our website, I think that some of you probably have some interrogations regarding the bridal hair accessory for your wedding. Fear not, here are some tips for you, as I had the chance to speak on the subject with Lydiane, a real bride with short hair and writer for the French blog Oh Ma Juliette:

Here are some tips and advices from our bride with short hair and wedding blogger!

How does having short hair has influenced your purchasing process and your choice of wedding hair accessories?

What I would do with my hair on the wedding day was one of the most complicated decisions of the wedding planning! I intended to keep my hair short because it had been 2 years since I went for a pixie cut and I didn’t want to let them grow just for the wedding. But then the options for short hair, as well as inspirations, are very limited.

Despite the hours spent on Pinterest looking at hairstyles ideas for ”short” hair (which are actually bobs or mid-length cuts) I decided to opt for a cute accessory. As I really had no length, combs were not possible. So I opted for a crown.

According to you, what are the essential criteria to be considered for the bride with short hair on her accessory choices?

Shemust first consider the exact length of her hair. Will there be enough length to hang a comb, something that goes around the head, or is it more appropriate to go with a headband? I think the bride should also choose based on the look she want for her bridal outfit or the general theme of the wedding. Is it vintage? Or you want something more bohemian, romantic… modern perhaps? With or without color?

Your advice to future brides?

Take your time and above all, stay calm! I spent a lot of time exploring the options, I created a ”database” of my favorite products, determined a budget before making a final decision… Get loads of information and feel free to contact sellers for more info! In the end I decided on a simple flower crown. For the night I found by chance a lace headband during a trip to Paris! My keywords here: patience and determination!

Pauline and Matthew’s wedding

12 November 2015
/ / /

Pauline wanted various wedding hair accessories : a cute and small heapiece for the flower girl, headpieces for the bridesmaids that would match the wedding’s color theme, and a fascinator for herself for the reception.  The bride chose the Ireland design for her bridesmaids, a special version for the maid of honor, and a custom piece but still similar for the flower girl :

The bride decided to wear different accessories for the ceremony and reception. We worked closely to fashion a delicate, feminine and chic headpiece, custom to look like the lace details of her dress. The result was a custom-made Capelio bridal fascinator made of a lace piece on a headband with hand-placed rhinestones :

The wedding

The bride and groom decided to have a Doctor Who-themed wedding, with royal blue as its main theme color. As well as incorporate elements from their favorite TV show, this adorable couple included various elements from the bride’s culture, as her family is from the Philipines.

Pauline and Matthew exchanged vows in front of their families and friends at St. Basil’s Catholic Parish, at the University of St. Michael’s College, in dowtown Toronto. The reception took place at the Old Mill Inn, also in Toronto. Many guests had come from other cities in Ontario and Quebec to be part of their special moment!

Of course, as it was a Doctor Who-themed wedding, there was a T.A.R.D.I.S.!

Following an ancient tradition from the culture of the bride, the newlyweds entered the room under swords :

Another tradition was to include little charms with ribbons in the cake. The single ladies of the evening could all each pull a charm from the cake, and the one who had  the ring charm is supposed to get married within a year!

Stephanie and Marc-André’s wedding

13 June 2015
/ / /

Stephanie contacted Capelio because she wanted a bridal fascinator to be stunning on her big day and complete her bridal outfit, of course. But her case was a bit special: the future bride had already purchased another wedding hair accessory online from another company… but the headpiece never came. (Click here to learn how to buy Internet) Panicked, she started her research to find a reliable company that could create for her a bridal headdress in just four days of before leaving for her wedding. Indeed, Stephanie had opted with her partner for a destination wedding in Mexico and were just days away from boarding the plane!

So she got in touch with us and what could have been a horror story was quickly resolved. I was happy to make her a wedding hair accessory just love despite the short time to make sure she felt beautiful (and hopefully, relaxed!) on her big day. The choice of designs was a bit limited compared to usually though: after a first contact Stephanie told me the headpieces she preferred and I told her which of the designs could be made within days, since it was impossible to order new materials.

Finally, the story ends well: Stéphanie got married to the love of her life wearing our Marie-Hélène birdcage veil under the mexican sun :

The wedding took place on a beautiful beach of white sand, with the sound of the nearby waves, and of course, surrounded by family and friends! Here are some of the wedding pictures – but be warned : look at them at your own risk because they might make you want to have a destination wedding… But those who can not marry in the south can rest assured that at least they can get married also wearing a Capelio!
