The 2015 Wedding Grand Salon of the Château Frontenac

1 March 2015
/ / /

On 1st Sunday March took place the Wedding Grand Salon at the Château Frontenac in Quebec City. It was the very first edition of this fair held in the iconic place of Quebec City and many future brides of the area came to meet workers from the wedding industry. The brides-to-be were able to discuss with many professionals about their setting, wedding theme, wedding gowns and many other details in the magical setting of the Château.

I was there to give a helping hand to Martine Ricard, a wedding celebrant and one of Capelio’s headstrong women and clients. I have talked extensively with couples of their visions of the wedding ceremony and the meaning of their vows, and how Martine can help them create the emotions-filled ceremony they want. Martine was stunning wearing her Stacey.

One of my favorite moments of the Wedding Grand Salon was of course the fashion show of wedding dresses, some accessorized with Capelio fascinators. I am sure that many brides were inspired by the numberous looks presented!

Here are pictures of the day and the fashion show :

Chapeau Mont Royal hat luncheon 2014

14 June 2014

After the 25th anniversary of Mariage Québec with all the wedding industry, it’s the fashion world of Montreal who came together for a good cause.  Indeed the first edition of the Chapeau Mont Royal event was held Thursday, June 12, 2014 at the Chalet du Mont-Royal with Mitsou Gélinas as the maître de cérémonie. The gourmet breakfast benefit was inspired by the famous Hat Luncheon held in New York by the women’s committee dedicated to the conservation of Central Park, a prestigious and popular event. The Quebec version aimed to raise funds for the preservation of Mount Royal.

More than 500 guests gathered for the occasion, proudly wearing hats, fascinators and headpieces. The team of the magazine Elle Quebec was there, and can you guess what the representatives of one of the most famous fashion magazines in the country were wearing? Fascinators signed Capelio, of course!

Indeed, Sandra and Nathalie, respectively brands director and communications director for the magazine, were elegantly wearing custom Capelio creations signed. I was honored to see my headdressess worn by such strong-headed and stunning women! And from the admiring reactions these two ladies got, especially with the black fascinator, you can bet they will soon be available in Capelio’s online store

A very nice event, a great cause, and a beautiful moment for all those who were lucky enough to attend. The pretty hats and fascinators worn by the guests inspire me for new creations, and I am already looking forward to next year’s edition!

5 June 2014
/ / /

For those lucky enough to have been invited to the event, Marriage Quebec celebrated its 25th anniversary and invited a multitude of workers of the wedding industry to celebrate this anniversary.

Designers of wedding dresses, wedding planners and celebrants, as well as myself, have been received with great pomp by the magazine team at Le Windsor in Montreal on Tuesday, June 3, 2014. Appetizers and cocktails were served abundance guests, all in an electric atmosphere provided by a DJ on site and the beautiful decor of the hotel. The evening also reserved a big surprise; a true marriage was celebrated on the spot!

It was very nice to talk with people from the wedding industry. In addition, the magazine team had prepared gift bags for each guest. I am already looking forward to their next anniversary!

More pictures and details to come!

Quebec Fashion Festival 2014

Wow, a lot of things are happening in the fashion world!

Quebec Fashion Festival has just finished and the third edition was equally spectacular, even if the 100 Dresses Fashion Show was not on the agenda this year. A large number of activities welcomed fashionistas : conferences, special evenings with fashion bloggers of the city and, of course, lots of fashion shows!

The Festival has resumed its original formula, inviting fashionistas to several happy hours combining a brand with a restaurant in the Capitale-Nationale to put on a small fashion show in a casual and cosy setting. New this year: there were conferences for the fashion industry, given by industry professionals and co-organized by the magazine Elle Québec. This is not the first time that Québec Fashion Festival offers such conferences, however they were previously directed to the general public.

The Festival activities took place over several weeks (almost a month) eventually culminating in a week of theme nights and fashion shows during the first week of May.

Capelio at the Flirt fashion show

The Flirt fashion show took place Thursday, May 1 and it was A-MA-ZING! I must say my opinion is a bit biased: my friend Betty, who inspired the accessory of the same name, paraded for the lingerie store, while the beautiful Emilie, who you can see on many photos of Capelio, hypnotized the room with her opera singing talents.

And of course, Capelio was part of the fun: a model wore the Anastasia birdcage veil for a very theatrical and bridal look, while walking with the music of Phantom of the Opera. Breathtaking!

Dîner en Blanc of Québec City, 2012

17 August 2012
/ / /
On 16th of August, 2012 was held the Diner en Blanc simultaneously in Québec City, Montréal and Boston. Based on a parisian concept, hundreds and hundreds of guests met at various meetingpoints in the city to b driven by bus at the place chosen for the Dîner, the place being kept a secret until the very last minute. Once arrived, people can have diner and dance for the whole evening.

In total, 4 200 people met at the Festivals Place in Montreal for the event. The cit was actually the first one in North-American to bring the parisian concept, old of 20 years.

For its second edition, the even attracted more than 1200 guests (and a lot of curious people!) around the Tourny fontain, where the Dîner was held. It was the first year I attended, and I was delighted at how pleasant the evening was, with its incredible setting and warm feeling. After a delicious diner, all the guests started dancing and singing, as a singer and a DJ were entertaining us. Various suprised happened during the night, with both a mariage proposal and an ACTUAL wedding taking place! Two contests were also organized, for the best table and the most elegant duo of the night.

I must admit, I had the greatest pleasure seeing various guests wearing capelios! I made one especially for Cendrine Chenel, the president of the organizing comittee for Québec City.
