5 reasons to wear a wedding veil

16 October 2016
/ / /

We gave you 5 reasons to wear a wedding hair accessory to your wedding (click here to read the article!), so it’s only fair to do the same with wearing a bridal veil! Because after all about half of brides nowadays wear wedding veils : here’s (probably) why!

1) It is your wedding. You want to wear a veil? Wear a veil. Some may talk to you about the bad symbolism of it – but if you want it, who cares? Some will say you only wear it for the ceremony anyway… so? Don’t dress for others, dress for yourself : as simple as that!

2) You will have a full bridal look. Believe it or not, some brides never have that moment of finding The One when trying on a wedding dress – but once they had a wedding veil on their head, the die had been cast. Like a wedding hair accessory, a veil can be a great way to add style to a simple dress.

3) It will make great pictures. Let’s be honest : one of the biggest reasons for many, many brides to wear a veil is because it will make incredible pictures if it inspires your photographer (or even for a boudoir session!) Pinterest is filled with amazing images of the bride and groom with the veil in the wind while they kiss, or other pictures just as breathtaking.

4) You can create a tradition. Some families used to pass on wedding dresses from generation to generation, but trends change so much, not every wedding gown style are timeless and can be worn decades or even years from now. If you want to keep something for your daughter or niece to wear on their big day as well, keep your veil can be a great idea.

5) You can re-use it in different ways. Sure, it may not be as easy to reuse as a wedding hair accessory, since many can be worn as fashion hair piece. But you can use the fabric of your veil to create something you’ll be able to wear again, especially if it has beautiful details. For example we used the leftover fabric of the dress of a mother of the bride to embellish her headpiece (click here for pics!) – why not do the same with your veil! Not feeling so crafty? We got you covered : just get in touch with us to have some suggestions (include pics of your veil!) or to tell us your idea and we’ll see what we can do!

Still hesitating between a wedding hair accessory or a bridal veil? Remember that the choice is yours and shouldn’t be dictacted by another person, article or whatnot. When choosing your wedding veil or bridal headpiece, as with any other accessory of your bridal look, you have to consider the overall style you’re going for and see if it all comes toghether perfectly. And remember, in case of doubts, just ask us!

Wedding idea : Add color to your bridal hair accessory

28 August 2016
/ / /

More and more brides want to personalize their wedding hair accessory. And why not? One advantage to order a hair piece, a fascinator or a veil signed Capelio is your bridal accessory will always be created especially for you, after you lodge your order, which makes it easy to make it unique and perfectly suited to your desires. And ddding colors is a great way to customize your wedding hair accessory!

Most wedding now have a color theme, which many elements are based on, from the decoration to the wedding party’s attire. In the case of Marie-Pier, who’s getting married later this year, the color theme of her wedding was fuschia. After trying our feather headpiece on a comb Catherine in a bridal store, she contacted us to know if it was possible to add a touch of fuschia to her bridal hair piece. After discussing together, we decided to add fuschia feathers in the white ones of the Catherine headpiece and voilà!

Here is the result :

This is not the first time a bride asks us to personalize her wedding accessory with a particular color: a bride whose bouquet had purple flowers wanted her Vivaldi headdress to have a purple feather flower with white birdcage veil :

Bridal veil for a bride with short hair

17 July 2016
/ / /

Few weeks ago Caroline Jarry, a professional stylist who rocks a pixie cut, suggested as wedding hair accessories for the short-haired bride to wear a traditional veil if that’s what you want (click here to read the full article). How fitting then that I received on Etsy not long ago a request by a bride with short hair for a veil for her wedding day!

She wanted the traditional bridal look with a long veil, but in order to be confortable and not have to fix her hairdo all day, we opted for a headband instead of a comb. That’s the trick : choose any fascinator or wedding hair accessory and we can adapt it to short hair simply by making it on a headband! This way you know it won’t repeatedly fall or be uncomfortable.

The bride had the hardest time to find a veil on headband but as we offer beposke and custom wedding hair accessories, we created exactly what she wanted : our Simplicity veil with a handsewn white border on a metallic headband that goes down to the middle of her back.

And voilà :

Just remember, it’s not because you have short hair that you can’t have the bridal veil, headpiece or hair accessory you want. Just get in touch with us so we can create the exact fascinator or headdress you want!

Need some inspiration? Read this article with Lydiane of the wedding blog Oh Ma Juliette, who got married last year and who has short hair as well. You can also read again Caroline’s interview here.

Often, a bespoke wedding veil or bridal headpiece created as a custom order for a bride might become part of our  regular collection of wedding hair accessories. However, sometimes it’s not possible, even when the bridal headdress is very pretty and brings a lot of positive feedback on our social medias. This was the case of the bespoke birdacge veil with a headpiece of feathers and a jewel piece on a hair clip, crafted for the lovely Esmeralda few years ago before her elopement. To refresh your memory, here are two pictures of the stunning bride wearing her bespoke Capelio headpiece on the wedding day:

Since then we have received some enquiries regarding regarding this particular bridcage veil & headpiece, as well as how chic and glamour this wedding accessory was with its touch of vintage. However, to make this hair accessory, we have to take the curly feathers of the Plum Fairy headband, which is less than ideal.

But good news for those who love this bridal birdcage veil: it is now possible to buy one in our Etsy store! There will be only one available and the accessory will probably never be part of our regular collection for the bride, so here’s your chance to get your hands on this superb vintage-inspired birdcage veil for the bride!

Flower crown with a veil for the bride

11 June 2016
/ / /

Weeks ago we received a request from the friend of a bride on Etsy, asking if we could add a veil on our Gabriella flower crown for a bachelorette party in New Orleans. (Sounds like so much fun, right? How lucky is the bride!) We happily obliged, of course. Here’s the result :

We added a 35cm-long version of our Simplicity veil in a way that made it possible to slide the veil on the crown to position it so it would perfectly suits the bride and her hairstyle. Not only that, but we made it so that after the bachelorette party was over, it would be super-easy to simply cut the veil without causing any damage to the flower crown, so the bride (or one of the bridesmaids!) could wear it with a summer dress, for example!

I’ve seen few pictures of brides wearing flower crowns with veils on Pinterest which made me think that probably other brides would like the same thing. What do you think? Is it something you’re considering for your own wedding?

It could be very interesting for a bride to wear the same flower crown as her bridesmaids, but with a veil in order to set her appart. If you’re thinking about that kind of look for yourself and your bridal party, make sure to get in touch so we can create the wedding hair accessories of your dreams!

Eloping in Quebec City

4 June 2016
/ / /

You’re planning to elope to Québec for your wedding? You will love the romantic atmosphere of the city, its historic sites and its magical character! The elopements, these weddings celebrated in small groups abroad, are increasingly popular and Quebec City is a destination of choice for many couples. However, in an elopement, as with any wedding, good organization is critical to the celebrations are to your taste and do not experience problems.

Simplify your elopement

Why not save yourself an extra detail to carry with you and order your bridal accessory to be delivered directly to your hotel? This way there is no chance of panic in case you’ve forgotten your veil or headpiece at your home, as happened with one of our brides.

Just shop your wedding hair accessory, order it in our online store stating that the billing address (your home) and the delivery address (your hotel in Quebec) are different and write them with care so there’s no mistake. Also ensure you order your veil or headpiece with enough time so nothing is rushed. Ideally, the order should be placed at least a month in advance, although it is sometimes possible to make accessories in a few days if needed.

Remember also that it is possible to make hair accessories for your bridal party, and even for your guests: not only will it be a very nice thank-you gift, it’s also a hair accessory they will wear during the ceremony and reception, as after!

You are planning to elope but to another city than Quebec? No problems: Capelio ship worldwide! Again, simply choose your accessory sufficiently in advance and specify the shipping address is the location of your elopement. As easy as that!

Flower crown for the bride : the new Mariana

30 April 2016
/ / /

Often our bridal bespoke accessories are included later in Capelio’s regular wedding collection, as was the case of Chantal and the birdcage veil named after this gorgeous bride, or Janie and the wedding flower accessory with her name.

This year, a bride from Montreal wanted a wreath of flowers with ivory roses for her wedding in August 2016 and of course, we have created one for her with pleasure! Here is the result :

Flower crown wreath ivory roses flowers bride bridal wedding white

The flower crown in question has caused many positive reactions, it was natural not only to include it in the 2017 wedding collection, but to make it available now as well! Indeed, since many brides and women like wreaths with volume, it’s our pleasure to give them the opportunity to order now the Mariana wreath with ivory or white roses!

Note that the available flower crown for you do not include branches of white details as on the present photo and the flowers other than the roses may vary, depending on whether you choose a wreath of white and ivory roses, so that the whole flower crown is the same hue. Order yours now!

You like flower crowns but want less volume or other flowers? Check out our crown Gabriella or one with baby breath, the Anna Rosa! And remember, it is always possible to perfectly customize a design to your taste and of course, make a bespoke hair accessory!
