Chantal & Sylvestre’s wedding

14 February 2015
/ / /

I had the chance to meet Chantal through Emmanuelle Poirier, a wedding planner based in Quebec. Chantal is a native of Long Island, United States (near Los Angeles), lived in Toronto and has lived now for years in Quebec City. During that time she met Sylvester, who became her life partner and father of her children. A former professional in communications, Chantal is now a nutritionist who appeared in numerous publications. A true headstrong woman!

The two daughters of the couple took part in the festivities as flower girls. Here the eldest poses with the bride, and the youngest with one of the bridesmaids:

Janie & Maxime’s Wedding

24 January 2015
/ / /

Several Capelios from the 2015 collection For the Bride are inspired by custom made accessories previously designed for real brides. This is the case of the ”Janie” : I worked with Janie on a custom piece, even at long-distance, to create an accessory corresponding exactly to the vision she had in mind to complete her wedding look. But I loved too the result so much that I decided to adapt it and include it in Capelio’s  2015 collection For the Bride!

As Ian and Esmeralda, Janie and Maxime were high school sweethearts. Having a lot of mutual friends, the couple began to spend more and more time together while their feelings grew deeper. Upon Maxime’s return after a month-long trip to Ireland, their relationship became serious. And a year later, right after a romantic getaway in New Hampshire, Maxime proposed  on the edge of the sea, in front of a beautiful sunset!

Three years later, they were husband and wife! Janie says, ‘I am the happiest woman on Earth because I have married the man of my dreams and my best friend!’

The ceremony

The ceremony and reception took place at the Vieux Foyer inn, in Val David. In fact, part of the day was supposed to take place outside, as there was a small island with a beautiful bridge. Unfortunately, as it was raining cats and dogs on the Big Day, the whole wedding was held into the reception hall itself.

Esmeralda & Ian’s wedding

31 August 2014
/ / /

You may remember I mentioned months ago a bride who had forgotten her headpiece in Miami when she came to Quebec City for her wedding. It could have been a disaster, but her wedding planner, Isabelle Radford, saved the day by calling, well, me. Even if it was only two days before the Big Day, I was able to provide a custom-made fascinator with birdcage veil for the bride.

But that’s only one, small part of the story. Esmeralda, the bride, was kind enough to share pictures with me and talked to me about her love story and how she came to get married in my beautiful hometown, and with her permission, I’m sharing this with you!

Here is Esmeralda on her wedding day with her Capelio :

Patricia & Frederic’s wedding

24 February 2014
/ / /

The most beautiful and memorable weddings are the ones which truly represent the personalities and individuality of the happy couple.

This is something Patricia and Frédérick have understood well. The couple are huge sports fans, so the wedding took place … on the football field of Laval University, Québec City, where the Red and Gold play their games during the season. It took much effort to get this special permission, but the organization could only agree in front of the enthusiasm and passion of the bride and groom!

In fact, not only the ceremony took place on a sports field, but all the guests were to take part in incorporating the theme during the day. Since family and friends had to integrate to their outfits the color of the favorite hockey team of the newlyweds – red for the Montreal’s Canadiens in the case of the groom, blue for the Toronto’s Maple Leafs.

I had the chance to be part of their big day through the groom’s mother, Monique, who wanted a custom-made Capelio fascinator for the occasion. We worked hard to create a headpiece that complemented her outfit.

Monique and I decided to add red, fabric petals in the grey flower of her Capelio to express the theme  chosen by the marrying couple. I hope you like the result :

Pascaline & Fabien’s parisian wedding

16 January 2014
/ / /

Typical story of our time and the place of technology in our lives, Pascaline and Fabien met through their own blogs. Another sign of the modern times for this original couple : it is Pascaline who asked the man of her life to marry her, and not vice versa. They chose to marry on March 8, to mark Women’s Day .

The wedding took place in France, although the couple now lives in Quebec. As required by French law, they got united in a ceremony at City Hall in their district in Paris. Later on they were surrounded by their families and close friends for an intimate reception in a restaurant.

Pascaline is a true fashionista, so of course she opted to wear a Capelio on her big day. After all, don’t forget there’s a fascinator in Capelio’s collection with her name on it… literally! Yep, it shows how loyal a customer Pascaline is!

For her wedding, the young woman decided to NOT wear the accessory bearing her name but instead was styled with a Voltaire, whose pink and red flowers harmonized perfectly with her scarlet dress. Again, Pascaline being a modern woman, she chooses to innovate and wore a read dress instead of the traditional white.
