Wedding inspiration : Baby’s breath trend

12 March 2017
/ / /

Baby’s breath flower are more popular than ever! I’ve noticed there’s a lot of interest for our Anna Rosa flower crown, made with artificial baby’s breath flowers, as well as our Anita combs, a wedding hair flower piece from our 2017 wedding collection. Thus to inspire you further for your wedding, here are various ways to incorporate this trend into your own big day!

Bouquets

It goes without saying that when we think wedding flowers, the first thing that comes to mind is the bride & bridesmaids’ bouquets. Baby’s breath are perfect to create small bouquets for your bridesmaids – this way, by adding baby’s breath to your bridal bouquet, you create a great visual link between the two :

Flower crowns are definitely on trend, so it’s only natural for wedding flower wreaths with baby’s breath flowers to be very popular! Having one with artificial flowers, like our Anna Rosa flower crown, is great if you want to wear it again : pair it with a summer dress or wear it at a festival for a great summer look!

For those of you who aren’t that big on flower crowns – or who wants something smaller for your bridesmaids, for example – you also have the option of our baby’s breath wedding comb, Anita. This way, you can incorporate this floral wedding hair accessory to a bun, braid or any other hairstyle! Again, it’s a great option to wear it after the wedding day!

Wedding decoration

A lot of bride and groom choose to incorporate floral elements into their wedding decor to create a breathtaking & romantic effect. In fact, this is in part of baby’s breath are so popular : since it is possible to have a beautiful result in an easy way, many couples use this flower in their decoration for its simple but elegant DIY effect. As Stacey, the wedding planner behind The Ultimate Planner service based in Montreal, says, “Baby’s breath are really popular at the moment because everyone is going rustic crazy and they’re perfect for that ambiance!”

Here are different creations by Stacey to inspire you for your wedding decoration:

Tips to order your wedding hair accessories

7 March 2017
/ / /

Can you feel it in the air? It’s wedding season on the horizon, coming soon as the days get warmer and longuer!

Which means that bides-to-be will have even more details to think of and will (sadly) become more and more stressed. (Click here to read tips to minimize the pre-wedding stress!) Wedding hair accessories, for yourself and for your bridesmaids, are often something left for the end of the wedding preparations. Don’t! Of course everyone will look at the wedding dress, but everybody will look at you and especially your face during the wedding ceremony and reception, so your bridal hair accessories are very important! Once you have chosen your wedding gown, there is no reason to wait to choose your wedding veil and/or bridal headpiece!

Here are some few tips to help you order your wedding hair accessories so you have exactly what you want for your wedding day without any fuss!

Have few trusted opinions to guide you

In case of doubt, ask questions. Have few trusted opinions around you who can guide you about the overall look you want for your bridal outfit. You can hire a professional stylist to help you with your bridal look or ask your wedding planner, if you have one. Your loved ones can be of great help too, but don’t ask too many people because too much opinions and advices can leave you more confused than anything else. As for your wedding gown, carefully choose few people who understand your style and who will be honest with you. Friends and relatives who got married can be of great help too.

Still unsure? Contact me. I know some brides have had bad experiences in bridal stores, with vendors trying to pressure them into buying a wedding dress and all the bridal accessories they could think of. Don’t worry, you can always ask me my opinion and you can be sure of an honest answer without any pressure! It can be a great opportunity to discuss together as well if, say, you want to customize your Capelio wedding hair piece!

Order at least a month before your wedding day

… or even better, as soon as you know your wedding dress! I’m starting to receive enquiries and orders for weddings taking place… later this month. While in many case it’s not a problem, as early as possible is always the best. Not only for you (and for me!) it’s something not to stress about, it means you’ll have your wedding veil and/or bridal headpiece for the trials with your hairdresser.

Not gonna lie, I much prefer to have all the time in the world to create your wedding hair accessory with love and care than to feel rushed and stressed so it can be shipped as fast as possible! Also, ordering your wedding hair piece at more or less the last-minute means it may restrict your choices of bridal accessories since sometimes I need to order material from abroad. In case of doubt, just get in touch!

Check your messages!

Your Capelio wedding hair piece will be created just for you, so I’m probably going to send you pictures at each step of the process to make sure you LOVE your bridal accessory. Make sure you often check your messages so you can answer quickly, both for your approval but also if I have a question or other. While I know you have lots of things to think about – a wedding is A LOT of details, after all! – it’s very important for me your love your Capelio headpiece.

Anything else?

You know better than anyone the wedding you are putting together to reflect your love story and your personnality. Whether you have a question or about the infos of your wedding (date, setting, venue, etc.) you never tell too much information. Never be afraid to get in touch with me!

.

And now, a little gift for the early birds!

We’re offering 15 % off to the brides who order their wedding hair accessories before the end of March for weddings scheduled for May and after!

Bridal hairstyles trends of 2017

25 February 2017
/ / /

We’re back with the 2017 hairstyles trends for the bride! As in 2015 & 2016, we asked Angela of Coiffure du Château to tell us more about what is trendy for the upcoming wedding season.

.

Waves & messy hair

Probably a consequence of the rustic and DIY trends (click here and here for rustic inspirations) that take over so many weddings, bridal hairstyles are also becoming more relaxed. Angela says, “this year is even more “undone” than last year with loose waves, messy, beach “did it myself” hair.”

It may seems funny that many brides would opt to go to a hairstylist to get their hair professionally done only to choose a style that looks as if they did it themselves. But no one would risk doing their own hair for the big day. Also, as many couple focus more their wedding day on the moment itself and not on the details, it is only normal the bride’s look shows this new approach to weddings!

Statement bridal hairstyles

On the other end of the spectrum, there are the brides who think, Go big or go home! After all, it is your big day and it’s the perfect change to live out your fantasies. According to Angela, “Fashion to the max this year, anything goes as long as it’s fabulous and bold!”

For those who liked one of the major trends of last year, you ‘re in luck : “Of course braids are here to stay, so we are seeing those too!” says Angela.

And what can we expect in the future? The hairstylist muses, “I’m thinking more real life princess themes will be coming.”

.

Flower hair accessories

Braids aren’t the only bridal hairstyles trend making a comeback this year: flowers for hair are still going from strength to strength! It is a favorite for bride and their bridesmaids we’ve seen for years and it seems its popularity isn’t diminishing any time soon.

Indeed, when we asked her the accessories trends she knew would be big in 2017, Angela answered without hesitating : “It’s floral floral floral! We’ll see major floral headpieces that make a statement. Crowns of flowers, big and bold or baby’s breath accessories.”

No wonder one of Angela’s favorite bridal headpieces of our 2017 wedding collection is our Marianna flower crown!

Wedding dresses & hair accessories 2017

18 February 2017
/ / /

After we launched our 2017 wedding hair accessories collection, a French-Canadian blogger, Emma of M.A. The Girly Girl, wrote an interesting article matching her favorite bridal headpieces, flower crowns & veils with wedding dresses (click here for the article – only in French though!)

I liked it so much, it gave me the idea to do something similar to inspire brides-to-be! I asked Caroline Jarry, the amazing stylist who we interviewed for our post on how to wear a wedding hair accessory with short hair, to pair wedding gowns with her favorite Capelio wedding hair accessories!

I selected two fellow Canadian designers selling on Etsy to illustrate the wedding gowns popular trends of 2017. Here’s the result!

The two-piece wedding dress

Who hasn’t seen crop top in the street in recent years? This trend is ultra-popular with fashionistas, so it was only a matter of time before this look was also available for the bride. There are plenty of great two-pieces wedding gowns for the bride on Pinterest, which is stylish while being totally different from the traditional wedding dress.

Caroline’s choices

The Marianna flower crown : I like the more “present” side of this flower crown- it works as well with the classic side of the skirt and more modern top”

The Petals bridal headband : “This bridal headband is also perfect for this wedding dress, if we prefer to leave the spotlight to the wedding gown.”

.

.

The wedding dress with cut-off

More and more brides want to be not only gorgeous on their wedding day, but also sexy as well. Hence the trend of wedding dresses with cut-off patterns that has emerged in recent years.  It’s easy to find beautiful wedding gowns that are both sophisticated while having a sexy allure to them by showing a little bit of skin here and there!

Caroline’s choices

The Anna Alexandra wedding hair comb : “This subtle wedding hair comb enhances the godess-like style of this dress”

The one-of-a-kind red flower crown : “This flower wreath not only complete well the wedding gown, it also brings a touch of color to break with the classic ”all in white”…!”

 .

.

.

The modern-princess wedding dress

Many future brides want a wedding day that will unfold like a fairy tale and feeling like a princess on their big day is a big part of it! Nowadays we can forget the bridal look of an oversized skirt on a corset, a strong trend for decades. Now we use modern details to play with this theme, so you can feel like royalty but with a trendy look!

Caroline’s choices

The Cosmo flower wreath : ”I love the bucolic details of the dress and to put these forward I think this delicate flower crown is perfect!”

The Luna double wedding veil : “With such a romantic wedding gown, you can opt for a veil, in this case the Luna bridal veil since, thanks to its perfect proportions, it completes the dress without adding too much details”

.

.

The classic wedding gown

Nothing beats a simple, classic wedding dress that you may even be able to reuse for a special occasion or to pass on to a young woman in your family in the future. You can find beautiful dresses with a classic cut but with a touch of originality : a bust with sequin, an interesting lace pattern, etc.

The Marie-Helen birdcage veil : “With this subtle and classic wedding dress, this delicate birdcage veil enhanced by the jewelry piece, will be just perfect!”

The Ireland bridal fascinator : “Don’t hesitate to wear this wedding headpiece delicately placed on a messy bun or even on loose hair : with the wedding gown, your shoulders will be perfectly highlighted.”

Wedding of Marie-Pier & Jean-François

11 February 2017
/ / /

We wrote an article about Marie-Pier’s wedding hair accessory, a Quebec bride who decided to unite in the South in 2016 (click here to read the article). And now we are lucky to have the picture of this beautiful wedding!

Why did the couple choose to have a destination wedding? The bride explains, “We wanted to celebrate our wedding longer with our guests and enjoy as many moments with them as possible. In addition to the desire to spend more time with their loved one, Marie-Pier mentions that she was looking for an alternative to a religious wedding: “A wedding at a church did not connect with us at all. We wanted something more symbolic, simple and family officiated by a member of the family.”

The bride and groom wanted something family-centered, natural and spontaneous. Nothing superfluous: simplicity was the word! Thus the couple created a wedding that reflected their personality, taking inspiration from the sea, with the wedding theme color white and fushia. That’s why we added fushia touches in the white feathers of her wedding hair accessory Catherine for the bride:

All weddings require a lot of organization, of course. But in the case of a destination wedding, the planning and preparation of the big day are complicated by the distance. In the case of Marie-Pier, she decided to hire a travelling agency in Quebec City that not only made the connection with the wedding planner at the destination, but also took care of the plane tickets and hotel reservations for the couple and the wedding guests!

The sand ceremony, that all the guests took part in, and the entrance with the family and the children are among the favorite moments of Marie-Pier. “To see the emotions on everyone’s faces as well as the groom was a magical moment in a magical place and a great setting!”

Marie-Pier’s advice to future brides? “This day belongs to you and it must suit your personality; do it as you want.” She recommends enjoying the preparations for the wedding, even if they are sometimes tedious: “It is part of the wedding experience. This day is a whirlwind of emotions that happens just too fast!”

Wedding hair accessories for the bride and bridesmaids

4 February 2017
/ / /

Capelio's collections of wedding hair accessories are not only for brides: our fascinators, headpieces, flower crowns and barrettes are also created with the idea to offer a vast selection for the bridesmaids, the flower girl and the mother of the bride. In fact, you can find in our wedding hair accessories availables various designs that can be matched together by the bride and her bridesmaids to create a visual harmony and a continuity with their wedding outfits.

Here are some suggestions for brides who would like to mix and match the wedding hair accessories of their bridesmaid to theirs - psst, you can also offer them their hair accessory as a thank-you gift to kill two birds with one stone!

Baby’s breath flowers

We already had in our Etsy store a duo of white flowers, with our Gabriella flower crown and some Abby white flowers hair barrettes as a package for the bride. But our Anna Rosa babys breath flower crown is so popular, not to mention everyone loves baby's breath flower, it was only a given that we would create flower hair accessories to go with the flower wreath. Thus how we added the Anita baby's breath flowers combs to our 2017 wedding hair accessories collection!

Therefore now you have the Anna Rosa baby's breath flower crown that you can wear with a veil (a package is available on Etsy of both or we can add the veil directly on the flower crown) or you can wear it on its own. For the bridesmaids, you can order few Anita mini-combs of 4 cm-long with baby's breath flowers. And there you go!

Traditional & birdcage veils

Birdcage veils have been very popular in recent years, but still about half of brides opt for the traditional bridal veil. So we creates two headpieces for the bride using both a birdcage veil and the traditional wedding veil. Last year we created our Vienna bridal headpiece and this year we have included in our collection the Duo headdress.

As the Vienna veil was a popular design last year, we thought to offer a wedding hair accessory with the same inspiration that could be worn by the bridesmaids and other members of the bridal, or by the bride during the reception, for example. Thus the Simone headband was created, made with tulle like a traditional veil as well as with birdcage veil. It's perfect for the bride who wears the Vienna or the Duo headpieces and wants to offer a thank-you gift to her bridesmaids that they will also wear on the wedidng day!

Fabric flowers

Flowers : a must-have detail for any wedding! We see it in the bouquet (of course!) but also in the decoration, in the centerpieces, and much more. No wonder so many brides incorporate them as well in their wedding outfits!

We created our Bloom veil for the bride not only with handmade fabric flowers on a hair clip but also with petals that seem to fly on the veil. The bride wearing this veil will now have the possibility of having her bridesmaids wear at the same time the Petals headband which, as its name indicates, is composed of fabric petals. The pearls among the petals match the centers of the fabric flowers of the Bloom veils, also with pearls.

The Bows

Another very popular detail after the flowers, bows are included in the theme of many weddings. We had created the Chantale birdcage veil on a headband with a fabric bow first for a specific bride of the same name as a bespoke wedding hair accessory - her gorgeous wedding gown had three bows in the back. We loved the result so much that it was later included in our regular wedding collection.

It is however by pure coincidence, while working with the wedding hair accessories of our 2017 collection, that we came up with the Clara bow headpiece. The crin gave it an interesting shape, but it lacked a little something... We add a little bit of birdcage veil, and voila! A wedding headpiece that is original, while staying girly and fun to wear!

The two combine perfectly: the Chantale veil for the bride and the Clara bow hair clip for the bridesmaids!

Wedding photography at Morrin Center

28 January 2017

I don’t know about you, but I love wedding photography and I love the Morrin Center! Having organized the photoshoot for our 2017 fashion collection, Murder Mystery, in this superb venue reminded me of the magnificent wedding photos made at the Morrin Center for the magazine Mariage Québec some time ago. Our Anastasia birdcage veil for the bride (the same used for the vintage rustic wedding pictures) accessorized the bride’s beautiful wedding gown.

I had made an article about the publication of the photos in the magazine, but here are some extra photos to inspire you, future brides!
